About

April Robinson, LMSW, MDiv

'Anam Kara' is a Celtic phrase that means 'soul friend' ~ it is a relationship characterized by understanding, belonging, and deep companioning. My faith, clinical training, passion for helping people, and creativity informs my understanding of the complexities of the human experience and the importance of holistic care (bio-psycho-social-spiritual) in the healing process. With over 25 years in social work, athletics, healing arts, ministry, and hospice care, I understand how life's challenges can make us feel unraveled and even broken at times. If you feel stuck or uncertain about how to navigate what you are facing in this season, I am here to help. Reach out for a free consultation and I look forward to working together. I also offer small group (2-6 participants) Process Art Group Workshops offers finding new perspective through creative expression. Group offerings include: VESSELS OF IMPERFECTION Our human frames are like vessels of clay-made of the same substance but uniquely shaped. We all have cracks and imperfections. What if these cracks that come from life's difficult seasons are actually gifts? What if the broken imperfect things are actually intended to help us see more clearly, hear more intently and grow in beauty? This workshop gives you the opportunity to choose a unique vessel, break it, remake it and discover the beauty that can come from the gift of imperfections. Workshop Medium: Clay & Mixed Media. LIVING INSIDE OUT We are complex beings and one of our deepest longings is to be truly known for who we truly are and accepted and loved but this requires relational safety, trust and vulnerability. In this workshop, we will explore the intersection of neuroscience around “being known” and how we can move toward living a life of authentic connection as we interact with mixed media and creatively imagine what it can look like to live deeply authentic from a place of freedom. Workshop Medium: Wood (Wooden Russian Nesting Dolls) & Acrylic Paint. (UN)COVERING Have you ever wondered, “will I ever get through this?” Has grief darkened your door like a thief in the night? If you are human, you’ve encountered grief but we experience grief differently and all too often our culture encourages us to avoid it altogether. This workshop will gently walk you through considering grief in the context of nurture, refuge, presence and connection. We will also discover how grief and love are inextricably intertwined. Workshop Medium: Mixed Media. Principles and processes described above can also be integrated into one-on-one therapy sessions. To see photos of the process, visit: https://soulfulart.studio/process-art-gallery. *All art supplies are included and no experience is necessary if you choose to integrate art into the therapeutic process.
